Each course runs for three consecutive days starting at 10am and finishing at 4pm with a 30 minute lunch break. There are plenty of cafes and shops to buy lunch or bring your own packed lunch and eat at the workshop.
You will learn how to make simple pieces of jewellery e.g. a ring, earrings and a pendant. No previous experience is required. All tools for the courses are provided including a starter kit of silver and copper sheet and silver wire. Any additional materials can be bought from us e.g. silver wire, silver sheet, beads etc. You will learn all the basic techniques required to make beautiful silver jewellery including: art & design; marking out; sawing; filing & emerying; texturing; various soldering techniques; drawing wire; wirework; hammering & shaping; and finishing and polishing. You can expect to make 3 or 4 items depending on the complexity of your designs.
On our beginners course we will teach you the basics of working with silver wire, beading wires and hemp cord. You will learn the basics how to turn a loop, make an ear wire, make links, simple knots, basic findings. Each day we aim to make at least one piece of jewellery, but some techniques are harder to master! The more advanced techniques include macrami, wrapping stones and knitting with wire, will be attempted on the second or third day.

This is an advanced course suitable for those who have mastered the basic skills outlined in the Introduction to Making Silver Jewellery Course. It is an intense 3 day course focusing on the precision techniques required to set stones successfully. We have stones available here in the workshop but you are welcome to bring your own to set. Any stones you wish to use for this starter class must be either oval, round or a teardrop shape. The size should not be small than 5 mm. If you have any questions do get in touch.
Materials and tools provided.
This course is suitable for beginners who have no experience using Silver Clay, or who those with some experience who want to refresh their skills. We will spend the first morning planning and becoming familiar with the concept of working with the clay, its possibilities and limits. The Clay can be torch fired and instruction will be given for this. This is a very different way of creating jewellery and also a lot of fun. Planning designs for this is key to finishing with a beautiful piece.All tools are provided and a starter kit inlcuding 20 gms of clay is provided.
